I’m so glad you stopped by to learn more about me. I’ll start off by saying, I’m not nearly as intimidating as my name, which is actually quite easy after you’ve heard it once. But you can always call me Dass if you’re not up for the challenge. This past winter, I was finally on the other side of the camera for once when, in the middle of a Christmas tree farm, I married my best friend and became a “Brand” (no really, that’s my last name now – isn’t that fun?) We live in a cute little house with a fabulous kitchen in Lombard (just outside Chicago) with our fuzzy puppy Willow, a Wheaten Terrier who thinks she’s human… Between the puppy and the hubby (not necessarily in that order) I’ve found the ultimate love and I can’t imagine adventuring through life without them. So what else? Well, I was the youngest in a large family (9 kids!), who found my niche as the calm and collected “helper” at our crazy gatherings. It was all great training for my eventual career as a wedding photographer and prepared me to handle pretty much anything that entails – including not totally freaking out when you learn your next gig is shooting the wedding of a Princess in Dubai! (ask me about that later). I probably don’t have to tell you I’m passionate about my job, but I’ll say it anyway. It’s just my thing. I mostly shoot weddings and engagements, but I’m also into everything that comes after – babies and families… all that important “life stuff”. What’s it like working with me? Well, I’m all about location, but it’s not what you think. My favorite sessions are where my clients can just be themselves, whether at home snuggled up on the couch, hiking a mountain amongst the pines, at a park surrounded by urban art, or enjoying a pint at your favorite brewery. Of course I am happy to make suggestions and collaborate on poses and timelines – but let loose and relax! It’s my job to capture and showcase how beautiful love really is. Comfort breeds happiness and all the giggles, belly laughs
